Perspectives: A Journal of Research and Practice About Educational Service Agencies
Thank you for your interest in contributing to AESA's Perspectives Journal. We seek manuscripts that will engage and support the work of Educational Service Agencies (ESA), focusing on research, promising practices, ESA spotlights, and issues impacting ESAs. To ensure a smooth review and publication process, please follow these guidelines:
Submission Process
- Submission: Please send your manuscript electronically to Sheila King, AESA Chief Strategy Officer and Perspectives Journal Editor at sking@aesa.us.
- Initial Review: If the article appears to be a good match for the Perspectives Journal, it will be referred to the editorial board for further review.
- Revisions: The editor will communicate with the author and/or return the manuscript with suggested revisions to enhance its value for our readers.
Manuscript Formatting, Style, and References
Formatting
- Double-space the entire document.
- Use a 12-point font, preferably Times New Roman.
- Submit an abstract and the manuscript in Microsoft Word format.
- Number the pages and include the author's name next to the page number on each page.
Style
- Follow the most recent edition of the APA Manual of Style.
- Article length should range between 2000-5000 words, including abstract, references, and any tables or figures.
- Write clearly and directly, avoiding educational jargon, acronyms, and complex phrasing.
- Limit lengthy quotations from other works; ensure that references to previous research are appropriately cited and integrated into your unique insights.
- For professional research submissions, it is recommended to avoid using the first person.
Cover Page
- Title: Include the suggested title of the article (note that the final title may be adjusted by the Perspectives Journal Editor).
- Author Information: Provide the author’s full name, complete contact information, current professional position, phone number, address, and email address.
Photographs and Images
- Submission: Photographs and images are encouraged and should be submitted as separate attachments.
- Specifications: Provide full-color, high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi) jpgs.
- Details: For each photograph, include a note identifying the individuals pictured, describing the activity and location, and crediting the photographer.
- Permissions: Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission for publication of the subjects in the photographs.
Publication Schedule
- Articles are reviewed and published on a rolling basis, with the goal of releasing nine articles per year.
